These are practical answers to common questions before you call or text Ruven.
Should I call or text?
Either works. If the problem is urgent, texting can be the quickest way to explain what is happening. For an urgent issue, start the message with EMERGENCY.
What should I include when I text?
Tell Ruven what is happening, where you are in Rockland County, when the problem started, and anything that changed just before it began. Photos can also be useful when they help show the issue.
Can I send photos of the problem?
Yes. A photo can often make it easier to understand what you are seeing before the visit. Some problems still require on-site troubleshooting before the cause can be determined.
What if I don’t know whether the problem is electrical or plumbing?
That is fine. Start with the actual problem rather than trying to diagnose it yourself. Explain what is happening and Ruven can determine the practical next step.
I don’t see my exact problem listed. Does that mean you don’t handle it?
No. The service directory is meant to show common examples, not every possible repair. If something is not listed, call or text and explain the problem.
What areas do you serve?
Rockland Service primarily serves Rockland County and surrounding areas. The Service Areas page lists the communities currently covered.
Will I deal directly with Ruven?
Yes. Rockland Service is intentionally direct. Ruven handles much of the work personally and can bring in additional help when a larger job requires it.
What kinds of electrical problems do you work on?
Common work includes outlets and GFCIs, switches and dimmers, lighting, ceiling fans, breaker and tripped-circuit issues, dead circuits, panel troubleshooting, dedicated circuits, repairs, and selected installations.
Can you help when only part of the house loses power?
Yes. That is the kind of problem that may require troubleshooting rather than simply replacing the first component that appears to be involved.
What kinds of plumbing repairs do you handle?
Common work includes faucets, toilets, sinks, drains, traps, shutoffs, supply lines, garbage disposals, dishwasher and ice-maker water hookups, leaks, and water-pressure problems.
Do you work on water filtration systems?
Rockland Service handles selected whole-house and under-sink filtration work, including filters, housings, cartridges, leaks, and flow-related problems.
What do you mean by “specialty repairs”?
These are problems that do not always fit neatly into one category - unusual or intermittent issues, mixed electrical/plumbing/fixture problems, troubleshooting, punch-list work, and repairs where the actual cause is not immediately obvious.
Can I give you a list of several smaller repairs?
Yes. Mixed repair and punch-list work is within the type of service Rockland Service is designed to handle.
Do you take larger projects?
Rockland Service is primarily service-and-repair focused, but Ruven also takes on selected larger electrical and plumbing projects when the scope is a good fit. Additional help can be brought in when needed.
What if the problem comes and goes?
Intermittent problems are worth describing in detail. Note what was happening when the issue appeared, how often it occurs, and anything that seems to trigger it.
Should I replace the part before calling?
Usually it is better to start with the symptoms. The visible problem is not always the underlying cause, especially with electrical, plumbing, and specialty troubleshooting.
